Creating Content Vs. Internet Marketing

One of the biggest issues that online business owners have is trying to figure out how to divide their time to earn the highest possible income.Far too many succumb to the thought that the only way to build traffic is through countless hours of internet marketing mainly consisting of link building.It is true that the people who spend their time link building will see large amounts of traffic, but what is not realized is the lack of visitor satisfaction when they hit a site without fresh unique content.Also when a webmaster is promoting a website without fresh unique content relevant to their niche they will have to work much harder than those producing unique content since those that produce will have other presences in their niche linking to them

This being said my personal opinion is online business owners should spend more time creation content rather than working on their incoming links or search engine position.Both or valuable, but in the end content will rise above those who create a page without unique useful content. You may think that an expert link builder can take the top of search engines and hold it without a problem, but if someone is creating content and the content is good then it will consistently generate links for the life of the article.Someone who reaches the top of search engines through manual link building will only receive the links they build meaning to keep a high position within Google they will have to continue building links.

The best option is to continually create content, but spend a minimal amount of time marketing your presence as well.For those new who don’t have much published online the best ratio for your time online should be 85% content creation and 15% internet marketing.For those who have been online for a while and have at least a couple hundred pages published you can reduce the amount of time spent on creating content and raise the amount of time marketing.Either way you should never reduce the amount of time creating content to under 60% of the work you do online.Always place content creation above link building and other forms of marketing.

Content creation does not have to mean writing articles.This is by far the most common form, but there are other medias which can bring you popularity and income.If you enjoy taking pictures then upload the pictures to your presence.Video and audio also have major audiences.Websites like youtube.com give you a free place to upload and store your homemade videos.Once the video is uploaded to youtube you can embed it on your presence and receive the rewards of having a new piece of content.Audio content usually comes in the form of mp3 or wav files and can add a very valuable source of information for your audience.Usually when a person uploads multiple audio recordings on the same subject it is called “podcasting”.There are several free podcasting hosting services available for those interested in producing this form of content.

For those having a difficult time creating content in their niche you may want to spend more time reading than writing.If you run out of topics hit up the forums, websites, and blogs in your niche.Anywhere that questions are being asked and information is being shared will make an excellent place to begin finding new topics to write about.One thing that has really helped me with topic creation is brainstorming.Keep a pen and small pad of paper wherever you go and when ideas hit you write them down.You will be surprised at the amount of topics you can create in a single day.If you are too busy for this try going for a walk in the park or going somewhere quite and just begin brainstorming.This is the process of writing down multiple topics without judgment.
